Firstfruits Sunday

Firstfruits is the giving of a sacrificial faith amount to consecrate a future harvest. For example, Christians historically have considered Sunday to be The Lord’s Day.  It is the preferred day to gather the first part of the day and focus on the things of God because Sunday morning is the firstfruits of the week.  Romans 11:16 tells us, For if the firstfruit is holy, the lump is also holy; and if the root is holy, so are the branches.  When the first part of something is dedicated to the Lord the rest of it or the following part will be blessed.

Nehemiah 10:35-37 reveals that firstfruits was designated to be given “year by year” to honor the Lord, align the giver with apostolic authority, and consecrate the harvest to come.  It can be given at any time throughout the year, but our church-wide pledge period is  Sunday, February 22nd through May 24th.
